Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Educational Initiatives

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has since the last 34 years been working on his vision to provide world-class holistic education opportunities that facilitate cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual growth.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has founded a vast range of educational programs and institutions all over India, providing first class education to those living in urban cities as well as free education to the illiterate masses in rural India.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's education-basedinitiatives were for children of marginalized communities who would otherwise be child laborers.

The Art of Living works to provide both quality education as well as health care to students and parents. Students and parents regularly attend stress-relief workshops.

Students are provided free stationary, uniforms, and mid-day meals. The first  rural school, SSRVM (Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir) started in 1981 by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, is located just outside Art of Living Bangalore Ashram.

This 30 student school now provides value-based education to over 2,400 children from 45 surrounding villages.

At present 422 free schools are functioning in tribal India, benefitting 43,886 children.

Nearly 95 percent of students in the schools are first-generation literates.
